Equine Therapy is a growing therapeutic intervention and Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EGALA) has programs now established in over 50 countries.
Sessions can be conducted with both individuals and groups. Equine Therapy has been proven to provide therapeutic support for many and can be targeted for use in specific issues from mental health diagnoses and experiences through to social learning development.
In 2015 Amy completed certification with internationally recognised Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EGALA) and began practising equine therapy as an equine specialist prior to completing her tertiary education in 2016 with a degree in Social Work. She began full time employment as a social worker in various fields whilst continuing to practice Equine Therapy and instructing in horse riding on my weekends.
Her professional experiences include working with individuals and groups in adult and adolescent acute mental health, disability, and forensics. Within these roles she engaged in longer term programs aimed at psychological or behavioural changes as well as short term crisis or distress intervention.
Amy’s therapeutic engagement is informed by her professional values of interventions needing to be client centered. She infuses therapeutic frameworks such as attachment therapy, CBT, DBT, ACT and Schema therapy into these interventions.
